New For 2017

At Staten Island Day Camp we pride ourselves on continually looking to innovate; build on our excellence
and improve our programs.

Freedom of Choice Elective Program:  This program distinguishes us as a camp since campers choose
from nine electives enabling them to customize and enjoy activities that they have a passion and/or interest.
Electives include the following:  Basketball, Soccer, Digital Media Technology, Computer Technology, Creative Arts, Hip Hop, Softball/Baseball, Flag Football for boys and girls & Camp Invention.   There is no additional fee for these electives, which are run by specialists.  Once a camper chooses their desired elective they are age-appropriately placed and provided activities tailored to meet their developmental needs.  All electives are open to boys and girls ages seven through thirteen and meet each day (M-Th for one hour.
With a close instructor to camper ratio and skilled specialists,  SIDC creates weekly opportunities for campers to develop new skills and friendships in a consructive and supportive atmosphere.
The elective program will last for approximately one hour. Campers who take part in this program can still participate with their group in swim, professional entertainment, and most other scheduled calendar events.

Modern Stroke Swim Program:  Our  "Modern Stroke" swim program will offer a first-class aquatic experience for all campers.  Designed for swimmers of all levels, our new swim
program is not the traditional swim lesson but incorporates activities such as water exercises and aquatic games.  We've taken a s
trong swim program and raised it to a higher level with innovative, individualized and interactive activities.  Our swim program will help campers improve their swim skills in a relaxed and supportive environment.  Our goal is to help
campers bui
ld confidence while trying new skills.  Our NCAA American Red Cross swim coaches will conduct personalized, age-appropriate instruction from in the pool as well as from the pool deck.  There's time in every swim period for campers to reinforce learned skills under the watchful eyes of our Water Safety Instructors and lifeguards.  Our swim periods are organized by age groups and all campers swim four times a week.  Finally, our swim program is safe! The swim
instructor/lifeguard to camper ratio is 5:1 plus
all counselors are in the water with
their campers assisting with their instruction and activities.  An SIDC Director is
also on the pool deck for every swim period providing general supervision.
