  • The only day camp with an on-site, Olympic size, heated indoor pool.
  • A safe environment; instructor/lifeguard to camper ratio of 5:1; all counselors are in the water.
  • Certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors and lifeguards. SIDC Director on the pool deck.
  • Swimming four times a week rain or shine.
  • Individualized, interactive and innovative developmentally and age appropriate instruction.
Be it beginner or advanced swimmers, our team of expert instructors tailor their instruction to your child’s ability. In our indoor heated pool, our campers swim in small, age appropriate groups, mixing fun, skill-building activities with the best in water safety techniques. So every child is learning at a pace and level that’s just right!
How Do We Do It
  • Staten Island Day Camp has a 5 to 1 swimming supervision ratio and campers are taught by our American Red Cross Certified Lifeguards and two swim directors who hold Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Certifications.
  • Our adult camp counselors also compliment the swim program and make sure your child is safe, having fun, and learning to swim.
  • Our aquatic staff meets and exceeds the strictest qualifications and pool ratios as suggested by not only the American Red Cross, but by the N.Y.C. Board of Health.
  • Our campers swim four days a week(Monday ThroughThursday), and even on rainy days

 "Look At MeI Did It!"

A phrase we love to hear and hear often

A Ton Of “I Did It!"  Moments.
  • Our campers earn a great sense of accomplishment as they progress each day and become better swimmers, experienced within a safe, caring and super-fun environment! Campers swim every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
  • Swim lessons and highly supervised free swim comprise our "Learn to Swim" Program.
  • They receive both 45 minutes of swim lessons and 30 minutes of free swim to reinforce their swim lessons, play games or just relax in the pool.
Recreation Pool Time

There's Pleanty of Time To Practice Skills, Play Aquatic Games and Have Fun
Free Time
  • Free time is an integral part of the learning process and is great for the campers because they have time to practice what they've learned in their lesson that day.

  • And for the older groups who generally are more swim savvy, it is a time when those groups can engage in more advanced water activities organized by our pool staff, which reinforce swim skils as well.
